Lloyds Bank & Sumup

This project explores the strategic collaboration and digital service alignment between Lloyds Bank and SumUp, focusing on how traditional banking institutions and fintech payment platforms can work together to empower small businesses.

SOCIAL PRESENCE

PROBLEM & CHALLENGE

SMEs  Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) increasingly require modern, flexible payment systems that go beyond traditional banking infrastructure. Many small merchants struggle with:

  • High cost or complexity of point-of-sale systems.
  • Fragmented experience between banking and payment acceptance.
  • Need for seamless online and offline payment channels.

The challenge was to conceptualise a user-centric digital experience that connects Lloyds business customers with SumUp’s payment ecosystem in a cohesive way.

RESEARCH RESULTS
Lloyds Bank, one of the UK’s largest retail banks serves millions of customers across personal and business segments. SumUp is a global fintech company that provides simple, mobile first card payment solutions tailored to micro businesses and SMEs.

This project is a whitepaper and case study that analyses business needs, user experience, digital strategy and design considerations to showcase the findings between Lloyds Bank and SumUp, enhancing merchant payment experiences and driving adoption of digital payments.
